Simple, Durable Memory Game
Good afternoon everyone!! I hope your week is going well! Mine is crazy as usual! My little ones are in the stage of complete destruction and it is driving me mad! Pouring bath soap all over themselves, tearing all of the ziplock bags out and scattering them, breaking drawers in our kitchen and pulling all of the books out of our bookcases. "This to shall pass" right?? I certainly hope so. To stay sane, I craft!
Today I am going to be showing you a cute little quick project that I did for my son Zane. I don't know about all of your kids but Zane would rather watch movies, play the WII or play the Ipad than anything else. I just want quiet!! So I am trying to get him to do other things so he isn't attached to some electronic device all day long. I grew up loving card games but with two 20 month tornados in my house, cards aren't going to last long. So I made him a wooden Memory game.
I got these wooden discs in a package of 22 at Hobby Lobby for about $2. I used scrap paper I had lying around and some Modge Podge and thats it!! Originally, I was going to use some Spiderman stickers that I had bought, but even though the package said that it had two pages of stickers, the pages were different so I didn't have matching stickers. Bummer! But this worked out great too. Use paper with different patterns, colors, and pictures on them. You can even use this as a learning tool for letters or numbers and colors.
Cut sets of circles out slightly smaller than the wooden discs and Modge Podge them on. After that has dried I put two coats of Modge Podge on the top to make them pretty durable. Thats it!! Set it up and have a little fun! I intend to make a little drawstring bag to put them in but until then a Ziplock will have to do. Zane has probably played this with me about 15 times since I made it yesterday! A little one on one time with him is always so nice. XOXO
