So I don't know about the rest of you stay at home moms but I struggle with making time to play with my kids! I have good intentions every morning but then I get a look at my to-do list and that goes out the window. I feel like since I don't work I need to get things at home done but I forget that being a mom is my job! Yesterday at church our ward had a great lesson about making time to play with your kids! Making memories with them. So, I took it to heart and tried! I really did! Yesterday I came home from church and told my son that we were going to make sugar cookies and he was going to get to help! It went pretty good! We had a good time. He seemed happy and seemed to have a good time. Then it was time to eat dinner and he decided to be very stubborn and fight me every step of the way! I think it probably took about 1 1/2 hours for him to eat and I had to bug him the entire time. I was so frustrated and I let it ruin the rest of the evening for me. This morning I decided to try again. I jumped on Pinterest looking for some fun kid things to do that I would have all of the stuff for already. I found these Bubble Snake Makers originally pinned from
here. I followed her directions to make them, (which are sooo...... easy) and they worked!! Zane was so excited to play with them. The problem? None of the neighbor kids were home to play with them too. So it was just Zane and I. We played for about 10 minutes and then the babies woke up. I needed to go in and get them but he wanted to stay outside and play. He wouldn't play with them by himself so an all out tantrum started. It was all my fault that his friends weren't home to play with. He glared, screamed, cried and stomped around the house. So once again I lost it and sent him to his room. Seriously, sometimes I wonder why I try! I really want to be that fun mom but I just don't have the energy and patience! I'll keep trying and see what happens..... Hope your summer is going well! XOXO

I am sorry to hear about the tantrums! I have a girl who is 3 and a boy who is 1, and I feel like I am dealing with similar behavior issues! I feel frustrated when I put in special effort in an activity, and then I get a big fat tantrum! Such is life at this stage. I am sure it is only a phase that the kids need to get through. I love your blog and all your craftiness. Keep it up and stay encouraged to keep trying fun things. I bet he won't remember the tantrums, but he will remember the fun parts!
