Fabric Ruffled Headband

Hey everyone!! I know it's been quite awhile. We have had some exciting news here at our house and it has consumed me lately! We are moving! Not anywhere far. Actually it's only about a mile away but it's to a bigger and better house with an actual backyard! Our house here hasn't been on the market to terribly long but we had a lot of people come look at it so I felt like my life was spent keeping things clean. Not a small feat considering I have a 4 year old and two 17 month olds. It's so nice not having to worry about that anymore! I can get back to crafting!! Well, at least until the actual move. Also, I just noticed that we made it to 200 followers today! Welcome to all of you!! Thank you so much for reading and supporting this little ol blog! Give me a couple of days and I will get a giveaway put together for all of you!!

The project I am showing you today is so simple and so quick!! I think I made it in about 15 minutes! I love that you can make these with fabric scraps! Believe me, I have tons of those! This particular one was made with scraps from my paperbag skirt found here.

Ok to start with you will need: Needle and thread, a button, a headband ( I buy these ones already wrapped in ribbon on Etsy), a piece of felt, a piece of fabric measuring about 2 inches by 18 inches or so, and a glue gun.

Start by folding your fabric over length wise and ironing it. This will make the ruffles a little more distinct.
Next take your needle and thread and hand sew a running stitch along the raw edges of the fabric.

I always fold under my ends and stitch through them to hold.

When you get to the end fold that under as well and pull the thread to gather or ruffle the fabric. Pull it as tight as you would like it to gather and then tie off the thread.

At this point I form my flower just to see how big it is going to end up being and then I cut my felt into a circle to fit.

Once your felt is cut you can start gluing and working your way around until you make it to the center.

Next its time to attach your button. You can sew it in but I always end up gluing it because its easier.

Now all you need to do is attach it to your headband. Put a line of hot glue right down the middle of the back of the flower and lay your headband on it. Make sure it is placed exactly how you would like it.

Next cut out a small rectangle of felt and glue it over the headband and down onto the flower. That's it! You are finished making a very stylish and fun headband. The possibilities are endless!! XOXO
